Yesterday, Tweetie 2 for iPhone disappeared from the App Store. Its replacement, simply titled Twitter [iTunes link], is now available.

This comes a little more than a month after Twitter acquired Tweetie from its creator, Loren Brichter. In addition to being free, the app now carries the distinction of being “version 3.0.”

Tweetie is one of the best Twitter experiences for any platform and, in our opinion, was the winning app on the iPhone by a wide margin.

Some of the new features include:

• “Using” Twitter without logging into an account..
• Register a Twitter account from within the app
• List of Suggested Users for newly registered users.
• Some tabs reorganized such as the more tab and popular actions now main action bar.
• The Search results also Most Popular Tweets.

It is indeed a great app and much faster than any other Twitter app I’ve used before.
