Siri set your wake-up reminder at 8:30 a.m. for the appointment at 9:00 am because your default reminder setting is for a notification 30 minutes prior to scheduled event. This can be adjusted in Settings. I learned this fact by telling Siri to remind me of an appointment at 2:30pm tomorrow and then just tapped w/o looking/listening. The wording is where she has trouble. To avoid confusion set reminders for events and/or make calendar appointments without combining the two in the same phrase.
