Hi Hector

If there's a line across the screen on your 3G phone it is a physical problem which is probably best looked at by a Genius at the Apple Store (or your local tech guru)

You could always follow the iphone iFixit guide -http://www.ifixit.com/Device/iPhone_3G
but then again, why not try to get things in order to upgrade to the iPhone 4S, if you can afford to do so you won't be sorry at the benefits!

The only issue you might get is if you have a data plan with T-Mobile, your iPhone is not setup to correctly to use it (it is setup for AT&T's data). The solution is to use something like Disable3G.com 's solution to get the right setup. Disable3G can be used to disable edge/3g connection, but it can also be used to enable edge/3g for another carrier.
References :
http://www.disable3g.com

Sometimes internet wont work but there are various times where there are solutions for it.. depending on what phone you are getting.. also you have to make sure the phone runs on the right network... not any unlocked gsm phone will work on tmobile.
References :
the only problem with buying an unlocked iphone is that it voids the apple warranty. Other than that all you need to do is put your sim card in and your good to go. it won't affect any of the features
References :
iphone owner
