iPhone on Orange UK – Interesting Apps to follow

On the 10th Nov 2009 Orange (UK) started selling the iPhone which finally gave some choice to customers in the UK.

At the time of writing this article, it seems its about the same price between o2 and Orange.

At the bottom of this article there is the Nov 2009 and Dec 2009 Prices for the iPhone on Orange.

Value Added services as competition

One of the apps that I use all the time called “Allowance” which can check your available text messages and Minutes available have been updated to include Orange.

One of the ways that mobile operators can compete for our cash it by providing value, or something extra and when it comes to that there are some nifty things that Orange provides.

Introducing the Orange Wednesdays App

If you are a Orange customer on the iPhone, my Favourite App that you can download for Orange is the Orange Wednesdays app.

If you love movies you probably already had a pre-paid Orange sim-card to use exclusively to get 2-for-1 prices for Cinema Movies on Wednesdays across the UK.

The usual procedure before this App was:
1) Send a Text message (SMS) with the words “film” to the number 241 costing £0.35
2) Receive the Orange Wednesdays code
3) Present this code when buying your Cinema Ticket and get it HALF Price.

With the Orange Wednesdays App however, you will receive this code every Wednesday. (like clockwork..) which you can take to the Cinema and claim your discount.

Current Pricing of iPhone on Orange UK

You can see from the tables below that the prices for the iPhone has changed a bit since Nov 2009 as shown in the tables below. All we can hope for is that this type of positive competition will even drive the prices down more.
