One of the coolest things shown off at the iPad 2 press conference earlier this week was the new GarageBand app for iTunes. It boasted being able to record instruments directly to the tablet. But you’ll need this Apogee JAM to do it. The Apogee JAM is a $100 dongle that’ll let you plug your guitar directly into your Mac, iPhone, iPod Touch or iPad via the dock connector or, in the case of a Mac, the USB port. You can then record tracks right into GarageBand, giving you one of the most portable studios ever.

If you are still living in the PC world, you surely have to see that there are so much more progress happening in the POST PC world than in the world based on Windows 95… Where none of this is possible without paying ridiculously expensive PC software…

iPhone guitar Is it possible to connect your guitar to iPhone Amplitube without iRig? I want to use amplitube on my ipod touch (i said iphone ^ because i was referring to the os). I really dont want to pay for an irig when i already got amplitube. I was hoping i could just connect an audio cable with one side plugged into a 1/4″ audio adapter. Any device designed for your guitar with a line output will do, but I don’t think you’re going to find anything as portable. (Just using a 1/4 -> 1/8 adapter WILL NOT WORK)
