Those that are currently using Apple’s iPhone have something else that they need to remember as well. They need to remember to reset their phone alarms for Monday morning, as a glitch will prevent them from going off if they are set on the recurring weekday setting.
The application that powers the alarm on the iPhone is not programmed to recognize the extra hour, which will make it ring an hour later on Monday if those using it do not fix the issue manually.
People that rely on their iPhone to get them up might find themselves going into work late on Monday.
Those that use their iPhone as their primary alarm have been instructed to set a one time alarm on Monday morning, and that should solve the problem, according to Natalie Harrison, a spokesperson for Apple.
If the alarms are set manually for November 7 and then put back on their normal recurring setting, everything should work out fine.
Apple has plans to fix the problem with their new update, iOS 4.2, set to be released at the end of November. Once the software has been upgraded, it will no longer be an issue.
The alarm problem was actually discovered by those in Europe and Australia, as they experienced the problem already during their continents’ time changes earlier in the year.
I’m glad that the fix is so simple:
Undo your old recurring alarms.
All should be well. (let’s wait and see)
It is remarkable that this issue wasn’t addressed earlier since it affected Australia as well as Europe already.
