The “How to” for your iPhone

iPhone Photography tips

iPhones are amazing PDA’s with mobile phone capabilities built in.

Well, that is how I usually describe mine when bombarded with people telling me that their phone has a 5Mega pixel camera and this and that.

The difference is the iPhone allows you to instantly download applications for all kinds of usages: work, productivity, fun or more recently photography.

Stay tuned as I will be uploading a video on the best photo applications that you can use on the iPhoen to make the 2MPixel camera give you so much more..

Additionally I like to rave about the iCrarify case which includes a Macro lens.

More on this another day.

Just look at the amazing things you can do with the Camera and the lens.

Look at the different points of focus that can be achieved if you know how.

The iCrarify lens also enables you to take pictures of writing, like the back of this beer bottle…

How to create contact groups on the iPhone

iPhone Contact Groups

If you have filled your iphone with all your contacts as shown in “how to transfer and sync your iphone” you will have quite a few contact on your phone. Myself as well as most people I know prefer to arrange your contacts into groups for instance, family, friends, Work etc.

Well, with the iPhone (currently Version 2.1 as of this writing) you are able to add new contacts to a group, however you can only do so once a group has been created.

It sounds a bit funny, and indeed it is.

Luckily I have gone through the trouble to make it simple and clear to show you how to create contact groups on the iPhone.

The Video should be up in a few days so please Bookmark iphone Tutorial Videos and check back soon

Transfer and sync iPhone contacts the easy way

So you’ve got your new iPhone and you want to know how to transfer your contacts from your old phone to the new iPhone 3G?

I have seen people sit on the public bus or train for an hour transferring their contacts onto the new iphone 3g. it seems like such a pain to have to transfer your contacts and numbers from your old phone to the new one manually.

Well If you’re like me that sounds like way too much effort.

Luckily I have investigated the options on how to transfer contacts to iPhone the simple, quick and easy way.

In the video below you will see you how to automatically transfer all your contact names and numbers onto your iPhone and even how to have a backup online in case you ever loose your old mobile phone or your iPhone.

The App you can download is called funambol (quite a strange name I know)

The basic idea is to visit my.funambol.com and create an account.

There after you have a few options:

1) download the java application to your old phone and sync to your online account or

2) Sync your old phone with the Windows / Mac Address book / Outlook Address book

3) Now download Funambol on your iPhone and Sync with all your contacts online.

After we have transfered the contacts I will show you in the following video how to

1) sync iPhone contacts with Outlook

2) create contact groups on the iPhone.

3) Sync pictures for your iphone contacts including any adiitional information of your friends that are on facebook, and put that information into Outlook and then on your phone.

If it all sounds complicated, don’t Worry, That is why I am finalising the video’s to put on the site which makes it extremely easy to understand and follow.

Can the iphone be used with external speakers and other ipod accessories?

External speakers for sure. Anything with a headphone jack can be connected to external speakers. You may need a 2.5mm to 3.5mm adapter, but it can be done.

As for other accessories, I don't know.

What are common problems with the new iPhone?

I'm thinking about getting it but i need to know about some common problems?

As a first generation product, there are probably still a lot of things that will be improved upon, either through software or firmware updates. As far as the other problems listed by other posters: The keyboard is not that hard if you trust the autocorrection. I'll mistype about 50% of my words, but about 90% of the mistypes are fixed by autocorrection. You can't do MMS (pictures from cell phone to cell phone), but you can email pictures directly to another cell phone. You can do IM, but you have to go to website to do it, common ones are BeeJive, Mundu, and Meebo. The biggest problem I have with the iPhone is the lack of approved 3rd party apps. I'd like to have a password program, more games that can be loaded onto the iPhone, and such, but won't be able to until the SDK is introduced in Feb 08

What are the problems of buying an unlocked iphone for T-Mobile?

I really want one, and now I’m on a T-Mobile plan, so can anyone fill me on what you can and can’t do on the iphone if it is unlocked for T-Mobile? Main things I want to be able to do: Call/Receive Calls, Text/Picture Message, Use the ipod portion, and web surf.

The only issue you might get is if you have a data plan with T-Mobile, your iPhone is not setup to correctly to use it (it is setup for AT&T’s data). The solution is to use something like Disable3G.com ’s solution to get the right setup. Disable3G can be used to disable edge/3g connection, but it can also be used to enable edge/3g for another carrier.
